Introducing our sponsors and supporters

Our sponsors and supporters are helping to bring this world-class, consumer-led event to Melbourne.  Each of these organisations has shown their support for initiatives led by people with lived experience, demonstrated a belief in recovery for everyone, and an openness to innovation and new conversations in mental health.  We thank each and every sponsor and supporter for their generous support.

UnitingCare Australia

UnitingCare is one of Australia’s largest non-government providers of community services, with almost 1,500 community service delivery sites across every state and territory, providing services to over 2 million people each year. The UnitingCare network employs 35,000 staff and 24,000 volunteers nationally and provides services to children, young people and families, people with disabilities, and older Australians in urban, rural and remote communities. Its annual turnover is over $2.3 billion. UnitingCare Australia is the national body for the UnitingCare network, and a national agency of the Uniting Church in Australia.
UnitingCare is delighted to join in the conversation at the World Hearing Voices Congress as the Auspicing Partner. As an ‘agency of the people’ UnitingCare supports the growing consumer leadership and consumer-led approaches that are so powerful in people’s recovery journeys.
UnitingCare collaborates to create a democratising process by bringing together people from different backgrounds into a learning environment including health professionals, carers and consumers, policy makers, researchers – but with consumers in the lead role.
UnitingCare is a thought leader in delivering a congress of a global scale which is based on a new premise in mental health; this being the acceptance that voice hearing is a common human experience, the place of trauma in this experience, and interventions and research that directly address the distressing nature of this experience for some people.
UnitingCare innovates to create new partnerships in practice and research that have a transformative effect on the mental health sector in Australia and internationally.

The Hearing Voices Network of Australia, auspiced by Richmond Fellowship of Western Australia (RFWA),  is proud to be part of the international Hearing Voices Movement which recognizes the voice hearing experience as being part of the normal human variation.

We welcome the opportunity to support the 2014 World Hearing Voices Congress in Melbourne.

RFWA introduced the Hearing Voices Network into Australia in October 2005 when it established the Hearing Voices Network Australia (HVNA) .  RFWA and HVNA ran the Recovery from Psychosis Conference in November 2008 in Perth, which was the first Hearing Voices Conference held in Australia.  The Inter voice meeting was held immediately afterwards.  As this was the first time the meeting had been held outside of Europe in the history of Inter voice, we are pleased to see Australia has been chosen again to be the venue for this important event which brings such transformational experiences to people with a lived experience and their families.

Eastern Access Community Health (EACH)

EACH is a unique community health organisation born in Melbourne and now reaching every state of Australia.

Over one third of all EACH programs involve partnering with people living with mental illness, and their family and carers, to achieve meaningful, recovery focussed goals. In Victoria, EACH delivers community mental health support and recovery services in Eastern, South-Eastern and Western Melbourne.

EACH employs both consumer and carer Peer Workers in many of our teams to ensure a consumer centred and empowered approach. A number of our consumer centred programs have won major awards and attracted national funding. The Supporting Kids in Primary Schools (SKIPS) program is now available in every state and the Carers Offering Peers Early Support (COPES) program has recently been awarded funding to commence in the Ipswich and Logan hospitals in Queensland.
